Property Description

Additional Information

A super opportunity has arisen to make a move and enjoy a real lifestyle change with the acquisition of this wonderful character home. A former Methodist Chapel having been sympathetically converted and improved over the years by its current owners with the addition of a modern energy efficient air source heating system an EV charging station and a bespoke farmhouse style kitchen. All this compliments the charm you would associate with such a building. Imagine entertaining friends and family in the grand living room complete with its panelled wall and vaulted ceilings whilst enjoying the warm glow of the log burning stove surrounded by a stone built fireplace. Versatility is also a key feature of this lovely home which could offer the potential for muti-generational living with its two ground floor bedrooms and bathroom. One of my favourite rooms is the first floor master bedroom, a wonderful space with high ceilings, exposed beams and skylight window allowing for floods of natural light as well as the chance to lie in bed at night admiring the twinkling stars in the sky.

A low maintenance affair outside, ideal as a holiday home or for those that don’t have the inclination to be a slave to the garden. The Chapel is surrounded by its own spaces and whilst not palatial provides enough space to sit outside and enjoy the North Devon sunshine. Parking is a consideration when moving home something that is a big tick in the favour of this period home as the shared driveway leading to your own private parking area provides off road parking which is currently housing a large storage shed and enough parking for three cars complete with its own EV charging port. Part of this space could be reclaimed and enclosed to provide more garden space should you so wish however.

Stibb Cross is handily placed and is often described as the gateway to everywhere. From here you can enjoy good road links to the market towns of Great Torrington and Bideford both within a 20 minute drive, also Exeter within an hours drive from Stibb Cross. In the other direction is the market town of Holsworthy, close to the Cornish borders. Within a three mile drive you can find yourself enjoying the locally renowned Tarka Trail a footpath/cycle way mainly built on the bed of a disused railway where all the gradients are gentle. It winds its way through some stunning woodland along the course of the River Torridge past Beam Weir, where Henry Williamson’s Tarka the Otter was born, from which the trail gains its name. It continues past Bideford and along the coast to Barnstaple where it splits and one leg turns inland again following the portion of the railway which is still in use the other continues on the bed of the disused railway and onto Ilfracombe. There are lots to do both regionally and locally. Within just a twenty minute drive you have the Plough arts centre / theatre, Dartington Crystal and The Royal Horticultural society gardens "Rosemoor" to enjoy.

From Torrington proceed along the A386 (New St) towards Bideford. Upon leaving the town turn left onto the B3227 signposted Langtree/Holsworthy. Continue along this road passing through the village of Langtree on to Stibb Cross. Continue through the village passing the pub and cross roads taking the next turning right, sign posted Woolsery and Clovelly. Old Methodist Chapel and the access to their drive can be found immediately on your left hand side.
