When I was small, I used to imagine owning a home with its own indoor pool and big garage for all my cars and motorbikes I would own. Whilst it is fine to dream about, the owners of this home clearly had a plan to make it happen ? only better.
Built very specifically, and with no expense spared, Twit Twoo offers everything the majority of house hunters ask for ? Amazing views (which are protected too), a large driveway, a large garage/workshop/Games Room (with potential to make into accommodation, if required), a grand entrance, four bedrooms (2 with ensuite), the all-important open plan living, kitchen, dining space (with feature wood burning stove), utility room and a sun room. What often isn?t on the list (maybe because we don?t think it possible?) Is a large, heated indoor pool, separate sauna and wash facilities room (although the sauna is so good, the owners may take it with them!), all of which are of the type found in posh spas. There is space around the pool, so it not just function. It is genuine holiday feel luxury with folding doors overlooking the garden and views. Interestingly, the vendors keep their hot tub on this corner. It is not known if the hot tub will stay yet, but another would fit comfortably, or the space could utilised for gym equipment.
The accommodation is arranged in such a way that three of the bedrooms are on the first floor. One is particularly large and has been a perfect workspace and office. Overall the home is shaping up to be perfect for todays uncertain lifestyles. It would make a perfect part-time home too. By this I mean, if you split your time between England and another country (as many do), the home could generate a serious income as a holiday let. There are few with these facilities to make summer and winter holidays a joy. The garden is bigger than you think. It mostly lies to the side of the property and offers privacy, good level lawned areas and the perfect area, raised, for growing. Sun trap? Yes. Having gardens to three sides enables you to choose sunshine or shade all day.
What about where it is? Merton is home to the Clinton & Devon Estates and offers a very friendly welcome. It is pretty too and features the Village Hall and Primary School, The Maltscoop Inn (which is excellent in my opinion), the garage and local shop (also excellent), good public transport links, great access to the Tarka Trail and nearby nature reserve. The church and yard are landmarks behind the square. Shebbear College is 10 ? 15 minutes? drive and there is a bus service for Okehampton school and college and for Great Torrington and Chulmleigh Schools. The North Devon Coast is 25 minutes? drive and Exeter City, approximately 45 minutes? drive.
From Torrington proceed in a southerly direction on the A386 signposted Hatherleigh/Okehampton across the river bridge and up mile hill the other side. Continue on this road for some four and a half miles before entering the village of Merton. Pass the garage, Maltscoop public house and the village square on your right hand side where after a very short distance turn left at the Village Hall and immediately right. Follow for a short distance, where Twit Twoo will be found on the right.
